7:45 AM Choir

As Christ came "not to be served, by to serve" (Mark 10:45), so too our choirs at Mass are servants of the prayerful expression of the Word through the medium of beautiful music.  Music plays an essential role into he work of God that is the liturgy.  It leaves an indelible expression on the minds of all who take part in the worship.

Funeral Choir

FUNERAL CHOIR

our Funeral Choir aids St. Dominic members when a loved one passes away.  About 25 members assist in the readings, help with the incense, and sing special hymns that the family requests. Olena Wable plays for the group, and her beautiful voice can be heard singing "Ave Maria" during Communion.  We would love to have more voices join us for this helpful endeavor.  Please call Olena Wable at 785-6262 or Joan Beranek at 871-2664.

Dear St. Cecilia, one thing we know for certain about you is that you became a heroic martyr in fidelity to your divine Bridegroom. We do not know that you were a musician, but we are told that you heard Angels sing.

Inspire musicians to gladden the hearts of people by filling the air with God's gift of music and reminding them of the divine Musician who created all beauty.  Amen.

To Sing Is To Pray Twice!

Lord,
hear our requests. Through the intercession of St. Cecilia, please grant what we ask. Amen.

CONTEMPORARY FOLK CHOIR

Come let us sing joyfully to the Lord; let us acclaim the rock of our salvation.  Let us come into His presence with thanksgiving; let us joyfully sing psalms to Him.  Come let us bow down in worship; let us kneel before the Lord who made us.  For He is our God, and we are the people He shepherds, the flock He guides.  The 11:30 AM Sunday Mass is celebrated with a Contemporary Choir.  Modern familiar hymns, as well as newer Praise music, support the liturgy.  Guitars, as well as a variety of other instruments, are used.

The 6 PM Sunday Mass Contemporary Folk Choir, under the direction of Angela Pitts, celebrates the liturgy with mostly new Praise and Worship music.  With full instrumentation, this Contemporary Choir enhances a moving worship experience.

If you would be interested in sharing your talents by singing and/or playing an instrument, the 6:00 Choir would love for you to come join us.  We practice on Wednesday evenings and Sunday evenings before Mass.

Our choirs, under the leadership of Olena Wable, help us celebrate the Mass each Sunday and on Holy Days of Obligation.  Olena's lovely voice can e heard leading the choir.  She plays the organ, piano, and bandora.

 The Musician's Prayer

Oh Lord, please bless this music
that it might glorify your name.

May the talent that you have
bestowed upon me
be used only to serve you.

Let this music be a witness
to your majesty and love,
and remind us
that you are always watching,
and listening,
from your throne above.

May your presence and beauty
be found in every note,
and may the words that are sung
reach the hearts of your people
so they will draw closer to you.

May your Spirit guide us
through every measure
so that we might be
the instruments of your peace,
and proclaim your glory
with glad voices.

Prayer to St. Cecilia
Patroness of Musicians

O glorious saint, who chose to die instead of denying your King, we pray you please to help us as His fair praise we sing. We lift our hearts in joyous song to honor Him this way. And while we sing, remembering, to sing is to doubly pray.

At once in our hearts and in our tongues we offer double prayer sent heavenward on winged notes to praise God dwelling there. While in our hearts and tongues we try with song to praise God twice, we ask dear saint, to help us be united close to Christ!    Amen.
